The Basic Ministry Essentials (BME) course is designed to ground all believers in the foundational and basic knowledge that one requires in order to effectively minister to God, to the world, as well as to fellow brothers and sisters in Christ. The Bible teaches that we are all called to ministry in one dimension or another.
The apostle Paul put it this way, "Now all things are of God, who has reconciled us to Himself through Jesus Christ, and has given us the ministry of reconciliation," (2 Corinthians 5 vs 18, NKJV). He did not say that God had given only those in the five-fold ministry the ministry of reconciliation, but said "us", meaning you and me. Jesus Christ said, "...All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptising them in the name of the Father and the Son and of the Holy Ghost, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age." (Matthew 28 vs 18 - 20). Jesus Christ told us, His disciples to make disciples and to teach them. In essence, He was saying that we should all minister to the world. So everyone, whether called to the five-fold ministry or not, as long as they are a disciple, are meant to be ministers to the world. Concerning ministry to the saints, Peter had this to say, "As each has received a gift, minister it to one another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God." (1 Peter 4 vs 10). So we are also called to minister to each other, in the body of Christ. You see, the Bible teaches that God, "...desires all men to be saved, and to come to the knowledge of the truth." (1 Timothy 2 vs 4). And as long as we align our desires with those of God, then effectively, we become ministers to God, since we are serving Him in His will.
The School of Commission (SOC) is a teaching ministry of the Lord's Sanctuary Church, committed to (i) equipping the saints for the work of ministry for the edifying of the Body of Christ (Ephesians 4 vs 11 - 12) – thus effectively making fishers of men by the Holy Spirit. This school was launched in September of 2005, after God by the Holy Ghost impressed upon the heart of Pastor Stanley Nevera to start the school. Since then, we have seen the Spirit of God equipping and edifying the saints through ministration of the anointed word of God communicated by the lecturers at SOC. The school is interdenominational and open to anyone with a hunger for the word of God as well as for the work of ministry, at any level. God has so blessed us with a number of highly qualified and anointed ministers of the word, with strong anointing in the teaching gift.
Compelled by the divine commission on SOC to equip and prepare the saints for service, the School presently runs a programme that is split into two parts namely the Basic Ministry Essentials (BME) course and the Applied Ministry Essentials (AME) course. After completion of the full programme, i.e., BME + AME, our students are then commissioned for service. This document describes the former course (BME) and it is hoped that after reading through this curriculum, the reader will not only know what BME is all about, but that s/he may also consider enrolling in this course. May God bless you richly in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ!!!
